INSTRUCTIONS

We’d like to create a little video with you. Just 2-3 mins where you describe who you are, what you do, and why you’re passionate about doing it! You might wear many hats and have lots of different projects or organisations we’d love to hear about – but can you focus on just one at time please?

We don’t want this to be scary. I repeat. Not scary! And it doesn’t need to be flashy or polished either. We want it to be as accessible as possible so it’s up to you how you want to do it…

  1. Get someone to film you
    1. Ideally in your ‘native habitat’ that complements your story (could be out on the farm, at a litter pick, in a shop, you could be filmed doing something while you answer the questions…)
    2. An iphone (or smart phone) does a good enough job so long as the audio is working on it
    3. Film in portrait (vertical) mode and if you’re happy, landscape mode as well ie. 2 versions. It means we can your video in different places
    4. Film fairly close up. We want to see and hear from you rather than see too much of the background
    5. A word of caution – if you’re outside you’ll want to do it on a fairly still day as wind can be very noisy
  1. Join a short zoom meeting where we can ask you the questions and record the meeting
  2. Voice record your answers – we don’t have to see you at all if you really don’t want (but we would love to)

Whatever option you choose, send it in to us along with some high res images, logo’s, and/or short video snippets of relevant things (moths, people chatting, the landscape…anything that reflects what you do). The more the merrier! We’ll turn it into a video, share it with you for approval (and so that you can use it yourself), and we’ll publish it on our social media channels.

For those of you that are used to editing social media reels and are happy to provide us with the final video (that would be really helpful!) can you please:

  • Add subtitles – good for accessibility and because not everyone watches video with sound on
  • Feel free to add some background music if you want but it’s not necessary
  • Can you top and tail the video with the attached opening and closing stills

Here are the questions that you can answer about your organisation/ project/ activity/ event:

Aim for 2-3 mins answering the following questions:

  • Intro (Who & Where): “Tell us your name, your business, and which part of Herefordshire you call home.”
  • The Mission (What you do): “In a nutshell, what are you doing right now to help Herefordshire thrive?”
  • The Vision (The bigger picture): “What is your mission contributing to, and what would you like to see happen at a larger scale?”
  • “Why” (The Motivation): “Why is what you’re doing/ part of so important?”
  • Call to Action (How to join in): “How can people support your vision (this can include how they can purchase from you)”

Additional questions

  • The 30-Second “Green” Tip: “What is one thing people can do this week to support nature or the climate in their own neighbourhood or home?” If I can have two or three separate ones even better!
  • What makes Herefordshire special: “What is special about Herefordshire?” This could be something like ‘the food’, we have wonderful food produced right here in the County and then a place you love to go and eat or a supplier you buy from. Or it could be ‘the countryside’, what you love about it and a specific place you love to go or walk. Or anything that comes to mind

Final note. We will review all content and reserve the right not to publish if it doesn’t seem aligned to HGN. But I’m sure that won’t happen. Just bear in mind that we’re a-political.
